Healthy Living Tips

Healthy Living

Healthy Living Tips goes beyond food and exercise. It's about creating a sustainable lifestyle that cares for your self as a whole, not just physically. These are healthy living tips are not a substitute for regular medical care. You may need to contact your medical care provider before starting any exercise program.

Even if you're eating only fruits and vegetables straight from your backyard organic garden and exercising for an hour each day, you may not have a healthy lifestyle. You need to ensure that your emotional and spiritual needs are being met as well. Please keep in mind that exercise isn't just moving muscles. Dictionary.com defines it as "bodily or mental exertion, especially for the sake of training or improvement of health."

The most important thing is to not be overwhelmed. Pick one and stick with it until it becomes a healthy habit, then add another layer ... Or do all 13 ideas right now and rule out those which you want to work on later ... Healthy living is about doing what works best for you - body, mind and spirit.

Anti-Aging

Anti-Aging

No matter your age, it's never too soon or too late to think about the future. We've all worked with or been helped by that elderly woman with a face reminiscent of a saddle. These anti-aging exercises can help you look and feel more like yourself and less like tack.

Brain

Neuron

Keep your senses and your wit strong by devoting some time to brain exercises. Especially for those of us that are now closer to 40 than 30 - or have already passed the mark - keeping your brain in shape means less time saying, "It was just on the tip of my tongue" and more time helping the kids with algebra homework ... although you don't have to admit you do actually remember how to do algebra homework. We've included some vocabulary building and memory games and make it fun so you'll actually WANT to do it!

Breathing

Lungs

Did you know that breathing exercises can slow your heart rate, reduce blood pressure and deliver more oxygen to your blood stream? That all sounds like good stuff, right? Check out these Free Breathing Exercises for healthy living.

Exercise and Stress

Exercise and Stress

Find out why exercise can reduce stress levels and even help lower your blood pressure. Unless you get all Type-A about exercise. Then you've got bigger problems. Seriously, though, there's something calming about taking the dog for a walk in the park ... especially if you leave the kids with the hubby for an hour. You deserve "you" time ... why not combine it with some exercise to make the together time even better? Read more at Exercise and Stress.

Eye

Work From Home

I don't know many people that don't deal with computers, tablets or smart phones on a daily basis. Concentrating on a screen can cause eye troubles, including vision changes and headaches. Want to fight off the effects of the interweb and the world wide net? Try some of these eye exercises to help keep your eyes healthy.

Facial Exercises

Facial Exercises

I've tried several creams and lotions to help keep my skin glowing, elastic, and young-looking. Unfortunately, most of these products contain all sorts of things that I can't pronounce. Since skin absorbs what is slathered on it, I've been skipping the look-young-now creams and doing some simple facial exercises to fight Father Time.

Healthy Habits

Healthy Habits

Although there's discrepancy on how long it takes, you CAN form healthy habits. Simple habits, such as drinking more water, seem to be easier to develop whereas more complex habits, such as daily exercise, can take a little longer. Don't give up, though! Healthy Meals

Healthy Meals

For me, healthy meals are less about knowing the exact calories or fat grams per portion and more about knowing that I put healthy ingredients in so I reason I'm getting healthy meals out. Stuck on healthy meal ideas? Check out some Organic Recipes.

Homeopathic Medicine

Stethoscope

There is a plethora of drugs out there developed simply for treating the side effects of existing drugs. Does that seem healthy? I believe investigating homeopathic medicine has some merit for developing your healthy living routine.

Listening

Listening

Studies show that many people are too busy formulating their reply or advice to actually listen to the person talking. What makes a best friend or a healthy relationship? The ability to listen has to be at or near the top of the list. Try these communication tips to bring out the better listener within.

Meditation

Meditation

One of my favorite healthy living tips is meditation. It helps me relax, lowers my stress levels and enables me to focus on what is truly important to me and my family. Need a time out to recharge? Give meditation a try.

Relaxation

Relaxation

Getting enough sleep is essential to healthy living, but many of us don't get the amount or quality of sleep that we need to feel rejuvenated and ready to take on the day. Doing some simple relaxation exercises before bed helps turn off that clothes dryer spinning around in my mind (open the door and you know something is going to fall out, but you never know what!) and quiet the tide of thoughts that prevent me from falling asleep.

Self Esteem

Love Yourself

Absolutely essential to healthy living, self esteem is a huge part of our perception. If you're strong and confident, the world is a different place from those who are doubting themselves. I've gathered my tricks from decades worth of self-esteem building and complied them here for you.
