Self Esteem Exercises

Self Esteem

Looking for simple ways to boost your self confidence? Self esteem exercises, including affirmations, can help!

New Rules for the New You

  • Don't use a yardstick for yourself and a rule for everyone else - you'll never measure up
  • Reality lies within the gray areas. Everything is not black and white.
  • Change takes time - be as patient with yourself as you would be with a partner or a child as you begin practicing these self esteem exercises.

Be Gentle, Kind and Patient

Be gentle with yourself. Be kind to yourself. Be patient with yourself. As you learn these new ways of thinking, treat yourself as you would someone you really love. Use the same measure you use on everyone else for yourself.

Take Care of Your Body

Learn about nutrition. What kind of fuel does your body need to have optimum energy and vitality? Learn about exercise. What kind of exercise do you enjoy? Cherish and revere the body you live in.

Support Yourself

Reach out to friends and family and allow the to help you. Asking for help is not a weakness. You are strong when you ask for help when you need it.

Praise Yourself

Criticism breaks down your inner spirit. Praise builds up your inner spirit. Praise yourself as much as you can. Tell yourself how well you're doing with every little thing.

Criticism

Stop all criticism. Criticism never changes a thing. Refuse to criticize yourself. Accept yourself EXACTLY as you are. Everyone changes. When you criticize yourself, your changes are negative. When you approve yourself, your changes are positive.

Don't Scare Yourself

Stop terrorizing yourself with your thoughts. It's a dreadful way to live. Find a mental image (favorite vacation, ocean, mountains, etc.) that gives you pleasure and immediately switch your scary thought to a pleasurable thought.

Be Loving to Your Negatives

Acknowledge that you created them to fulfill a need. Now you are finding new, positive ways to fulfill those needs. Lovingly release the old, negative patterns.

Be Kind to Your Mind

Self-hatred is hating your own thoughts. Don't hate yourself for having the thoughts. Instead, gently change the thoughts.

Mirror Work

Look into your own eyes often. Express the growing sense of love you have for yourself. If you have trouble knowing where to start, try these affirmations. Forgive yourself. Talk to those who have hurt you, while looking in the mirror, and forgive them, too. At least once a day, tell yourself, "I love you."

Love Yourself NOW!

Don't wait until you lose the weight, get in shape, get the new job or fix your marriage. Begin now and do the best you can.
